Mathematical/Computational Biology

Mathematical/Computational biology is an interdisciplinary field of Mathematics, Computer Science and Biology, which aims at the mathematical modeling and computer simulation of biological processes. In the past few decades, the development of mathematical theory, especially in dynamical systems, provides mathematical tools for us to study the nonlinear dynamical behaviors in the study of biology. Recently, Smale and Dr. Indika have made progress in the mathematical foundation of gene regulation and emergence of functions for gene dynamics. Smale Institute will advance the research in this area. We hope to combine the results of theoretical study, gene data processing and computer technology for better understanding and control of biologic process.
